1 Samuel 7:5 -Be an Intercessory Warrior

April 11 1 Samuel 7 5 NKJV

In 1 Samuel 7, we see Israel once again repenting of idolatry and they find themselves needing God to deliver the nation from the Philistines. When they come to Samuel, Samuel tells them to gather together at Mizpah and he will pray to the Lord for them.

Just as Israel needed someone to intercede on their behalf, we too need someone who will stand in the gap and intercede for us. This is why we ask people to pray for us. Maybe we are experiencing a health, financial, or relationship crisis. Maybe we need wisdom for a decision that could affect not only our lives, but the lives of our family. Maybe we need someone to intercede to help us kick an addiction. Maybe we’ve been struggling with our faith and just someone to mentor and pray for our relationship with God. Maybe we are experiencing marriage problems or have a wayward child. Whatever life might throw at us, how much would it help knowing that there are prayer warriors who will relentlessly stand in the gap to pray just for us?

What if you were the prayer warrior that someone else might need? It’s easy to pray for the people we know and the struggles they face, but is our heart in turn with God so that as we pass someone at the store or in the park or at the office from another department would we hear God’s whisper that prompts us to pray for that person we don’t’ know? We don’t have to know their circumstances. God already knows. But when God prompts us to pray for someone, we should stop and take the time to do so, praying that God’s will would be done and that His power and glory would be manifested in the situation they are experiencing. Would you commit to praying for even just one person that you know that is experiencing a crisis or difficult time? Would you be a “Samuel” for that person? And while you’re already on your knees would you join my family and add my nephew, Blake, to the people you pray for? Blake joined the US Air Force and April 10th was his first day at boot camp. Would you commit to pray for Blake and his parents for the next 8 weeks (Graduation is June 9, 2019) as he navigates a very new life and as his parents adjust to one of their kids leaving the nest? Pray for God to give Blake strength to face every challenge. Pray for God’s protection. Pray that Blake will be a light for Christ and that his faith will grow as he leans on and depends on God for this new season in his life.

Do you have a prayer need that we can pray about for you? Post it in a comment or if you want to keep it private, send us a request at wellspringchristianministries@yahoo.com.

God, thank you for the privilege of praying for one another. Thank you for being a loving God who is concerned about every aspect of our lives and each and every minute detail of every day. As we go through our day, whisper to us as we come in contact with people who need prayer so that we can stand in the gap for them.
