When life gets hectic or difficult or when we are waiting on God, it’s easy to wonder where God is at work. In these times, it becomes important for us to remember the moments where we have seen Him work in our lives in the past. In 1 Samuel 7:12, Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen and named the stone “Ebenezer” and said, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” The stone was to be used as a reminder of how God had helped them.
As you recall the times you’ve seen God at work and how He’s helped you in the past, take a big stone and permanent marker and write on the stone as many of the memories as you can recall. Set the stone up in your home so that every time you pass by it, it will be a reminder to you.
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” — 1 Samuel 7:12 (NIV)
