When we get bogged down with life, laughter is the medicine we need to let go of all the things weighing us down. It is the “antibiotic” that fights stress, pain, and conflict. It has the power to restore hope and connect you to others. It can defuse conflict, making it easier to let go of anger and be more forgiving. It adds joy to your life and improves your mood. It’s no wonder that Solomon wrote that “a joyful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22). Over in 1 Kings, there was so much rejoicing that the earth split open from the sound! Now that’s a lot of joy and laughter!
All the people followed him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy that the earth split open from the sound. — 1 Kings 1:40
