Fasting & Prayer for Revival: Apathy

Today we invite the people of God to join us in fasting and prayer for a revival in America. Beginning at 6 am we will be giving a focus area of prayer for each hour until 10 pm. Please join us each hour in prayer. We are continuing our focus on repentance and in this hour we will repent from apathy.

12 pm Revival prayer focus:

This hour pray that God will stir up the hearts of His people with a deep concern for our nation and that our interests will be redirected back to God and that we will develop enthusiasm for the things of God.

Revival begins with God’s people.

How does a nation once known world-wide as a Christian nation fall into the state we are in today? Two reasons: Apathy and complacency on the part of God people. Apathy is defined as having a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. We, God’s people, have had a lack of interest in the decline of our nation. But there’s nothing like a world-wide pandemic to hit us in the face to make us become interested, is there?

We’ve lost the enthusiasm for witnessing and evangelizing the lost. We’re more concerned with what other people will think of us than for where the lost will spend eternity. For several generations, we have had no concern on the direction our nation has been going. As long as we can sit back in the comfort of our beautiful churches and not be affected by the world around us, we’ve allowed the world to fall into the spiraling decline of sin.

Our Guilt

As God’s people we are guilty of apathy. The old saying is “Birds of a feather flock together.” And we have flocked together within our church and with other believers rather than going out and being salt and light to the world. How many people will spend eternity in hell because of our apathy? Our part in the state of our nation and its spiraling decline of sin is our apathy.

Take some time this hour and pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any apathy in your heart and ask Him to reveal to you His will for your part in the work of the Kingdom.

“The coming revival must begin with a great prayer revival. It is in the closet, with the door shut, that the sound of abundant revival will be first heard. An increase in the secret prayer of ministers and members will be the sure herald of blessing.”

Andrew Murray

Join us in prayer:

Father, I confess to you my own apathy. I have not had the concern for the spiritual state of other or nation. I have not had enthusiasm for being salt and light and spreading the gospel as I should have. Nor have I taken interest in the political realm as Satan has stripped away our Godly standards and traded morality for immorality. I have flocked together with other believers, sat within the walls of my church and worshiped you but I have not been concerned for what is going on in our world that breaks your heart.

Father, give me a heart so burdenedy the state of our nation and our world that it overpowers any fear or self-centeredness. Help me to be salt and light in the world so that others see you in me. Fill me with your power to boldly proclaim your name and a heart that is deeply broken over the brokenness in our world. Give me eyes to see people the way you see them. Give me a heart that is torn apart by any one soul that will spend eternity in hell. Show me my part in your plan for the work of the Kingdom and how I can be used by you to return America to a nation that seeks and honors your.

Father, we are here. The people called by your name. Today, we come to you brokenhearted, acknowledging how we, your people, have allowed this nation to turn so far away from you. And today, we ask you to revive our hearts. Revive your Church. Revive our homes, families, and marriages. Move among us. We invite you to be Lord in each one of us.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
