Today’s Bible verse for Revival
From The Message Bible:
“Come on, let’s go back to God.
He hurt us, but he’ll heal us.
He hit us hard,
but he’ll put us right again.
In a couple of days we’ll feel better.
By the third day he’ll have made us brand-new,
Alive and on our feet,
fit to face him.
We’re ready to study God,
eager for God-knowledge.
As sure as dawn breaks,
so sure is his daily arrival.
He comes as rain comes,
as spring rain refreshing the ground.”
The Need for Revival
Romans 2:8 says, “But for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.” John 3:36 says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
Our nation and the world around us has been hit hard with COVID and it continues to strike. We’ve been hit hard but God can heal us – both physically and spiritually. Let us return to the Lord with humble hearts, broken for the sin of our nation and seek Him so that we can truly know Him.
What the Bible says about returning to God
- And rend your heart and not your garments. Now return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and relenting of evil. Joel 2:13
- Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity. Hosea 14:1
- Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Return to Me,” declares the Lord of hosts, “that I may return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 1:3
- I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart. Jeremiah 24:7
- Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord! Lamentations 3:40
- “So you, by the help of your God, return, hold fast to love and justice, and wait continually for your God.” Hosea 12:6
- “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored; If you remove unrighteousness far from your tent. Job 22:23
Revival occurs when we return to God
The very meaning of revival is a returning of our hearts to God. When churches hold revival services, the focus is often evangelizing the lost, which we greatly need to do. But the whole purpose of revival is to revive something. In this case, it is returning to God and reviving our hearts. It’s a time of allowing the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts for the areas that we have allowed sin to creep in and distance us from God. The lost person is dead in their trespasses and sin. They need to be revived to eternal life. The Christian needs revival to refocus their heart on their Savior and Heavenly Father.
In the book of Revelation, we find that the church at Ephesus needed a revival. In Revelation 2:4, Jesus says to the church, “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.” Could Jesus say the same thing to you today? If so, repent and to the works you when you first accepted Jesus as your Savior.
Praying for Revival
