A daily verse about the state of our nation and time for Christians reflect and unite in prayer, asking God to send a revival across our land and turn our nation back to Him. If you long for revival in America (or your nation) we invite you to reflect on these daily verses and join us in praying for revival.
Today’s Bible verse for Revival

Revival is needed when we no longer see that God is here
In Genesis 28, Jacob has already tricked his father and brother and stolen Esau’s birthright and blessing. As a result, Esau is angry and vows to kill Jacob after Isaac dies. Their mother learns of Esau’s plans and gets Isaac to send Jacob away to find a wife from her family. It sounds like this is a family who needs to experience a revival!
Now Jacob is on the run and as he lays down using a stone for a pillow, he goes to sleep and dreams. In the dream, there is a ladder that reaches up to heaven and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Then God speaks to Jacob, promising him that the land on which he is laying God will give to Jacob and his offspring. God continues by making the same promise to Jacob that He had made to Abraham – that his offspring would be so numerous they wouldn’t be able to be counted and that through him all the families of the earth would be blessed. Lastly, God promises that He will be with Jacob wherever he goes and will bring him back to this land.
Did Jacob’s encounter with God bring the revival he needed?
Is it possible to have an encounter with God and still not accept Him as Lord? When Jacob wakes up from his dream encounter with God, he says, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” He is naturally afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” We could say that Jacob at this point has a head knowledge of God – but not a heart knowledge.
While he recognizes and acknowledges the presence of God, he does not yet fully accept the Lord as his God. We see that he acknowledges by both his words and his actions of setting up a pillar and consecrating it with oil. However, he does not build an altar. Setting up pillars was common in Canaanite worship of idols and in Deuteronomy, God will prohibit such acts. It is not until his encounter with God at Penuel that his faith is transformed and he then returns to Bethel to construct an altar (see Genesis 35:1-7).
The Need for Revival
- What is your personal experience with God?
- Do you acknowledge just his presence or do you acknowledge Him as your Lord?
- Have you had a faith-transforming encounter with God?
Praying for Revival
Father, so many religious would have us believe that we can know about you and be saved or that we can work our way into heaven. But Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” Our world and our nation need to experience a faith-transforming encounter with you. We ask you to invade our nation and transform our hearts.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
