Today’s Bible verse for Revival
Chapter 37 is probably one of the most well-known chapters in Ezekiel. At a time when Jerusalem was defeated, Ezekiel preaches a message of hope. His vision of the valley of dry bones promises that God’s Spirit will restore Israel. It declares God’s power to restore life into a nation that was defeated and dead. It might seem pointless for God to tell Ezekiel to prophesy over a valley of dry bones, but all things are possible with God – even turning a nation back to God.
Is America a valley of dry bones today?
Spiritually speaking, America is like that valley of dead, hard, dry bones. The valley of dry bones in Ezekiel’s vision suggests the aftermath of battle, the ultimate outcome of God’s judgement on Jerusalem. The battle we face today is not again another nation – but against COVID and even against our own people who would divide the nation and see it fall. It is against sin and the Devil. It is against, pride, arrogance, idols, and self-centeredness. Our battle is a spiritual one and at stake are the eternal lives who will one day die without knowing Christ. At stake is our nation and its future. But the hope in the valley of dry bones is that God can take something as dead as bones and breathe into it His Spirit and restore life.
The Need for Revival
- Is there a “valley of dry bones” in your spiritual life? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your personal “dry bones.” Then ask him to breathe his life back into them.
- What “dry bones” are within our nation? Ask the Holy Spirit to identify the bones that are dry and dead in our nation and then ask him to breathe his life back into them.
Praying for Revival
Father, we confess to you that we have dry bones in our personal lives of complacency, pride, and division. We’ve turned out backs on you and lost our zeal for you. We ask you to breathe your Spirit into our lives. Renew us, O Lord. Cause us to know that you are the Lord. Father, our nation has become a valley of dry bones too. Sin, selfishness, greed, pride, and division is the army defeating us. Send your Spirit to breathe into us your life so that America will know that you are Lord.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
