Today’s Bible verse for Revival
Carefully re-read 2 Timothy 3:1-5. As you read the description of what people will be like in the last day, does this describe what America is like today?
Does 2 Timothy 3:1-5 describe you?
Let’s face it. We’re all human. We’re all sinners. Paul tells us there is none righteous and Isaiah tells us that even our greatest act of righteousness is nothing more than filthy rags. So, if we’re honest with ourselves, we’ll see ourselves described in the verses above. We can’t confess and repent of the sins we’re not willing to acknowledge.
The Need for Revival
- Write out the verses above on a piece of paper. Then using two different colors of ink, draw a box around each characteristics that are true for our nation. Using the other color ink draw circles around the characteristics that are true for you.
- Start by confessing and repents of your own faults. Then confess the faults of our nation to God and ask Him to forgive us. Ask the Holy Spirit to move in our nation to make us a God-honoring nation once again.
Praying for Revival
Father, the words of 2 Timothy 3 are a sober realization of just how far our nation has turned away from you. Every single characteristic can be seen in our world today. Lord, in my own life, I am guilty of [name each characteristic you marked about yourself] and I confess these to you now. Forgive me father. Help me to change each of these characteristics for one of your characteristics so that I reflect you to the world around me.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
