Today’s Bible verse for Revival
Psalm 51 is David’s prayer of repentance following his sin with Bathsheba. When there is true repentance, one will crave a fresh sense of God’s presence. He longed for God’s forgiveness and to have the joy restored. He wanted a clean heart – free of the guilt of his sin and only God can create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. David was called a “man after God’s own heart.” Not because he was sinless, but because when confronted with sin, he owned up to it and sought God’s forgiveness. He was a man that enjoyed being in the presence of God and when sin is in our lives, we can’t come into His presence.
What sins do you need to repent of?
Often, we end up hanging on to sin rather than confessing it. We don’t want to let it go. The Bible tells us that sin brings pleasure for a season – but eventually sin brings nothing but heartache and sorrow. So, if your holding on to some pet sin, surrender it over to God and repent today. Allow God to clean you and make you whiter than show. Rediscover the joy of God’s salvation and bask in His presence once again.
The Need for Revival
- Has God convicted of a sin you are holding on to? Spend time repenting and confess it to God.
- When was the last time you felt the joy of your salvation in your life? If it’s been a while you might want to see what sins you’re holding on to that prohibits you from coming into God’s presence.
Praying for Revival
Father, dig into the deepest darkest places of our soul and shine your light on the sins that we’ve hung one to, refusing to surrender them to you. Bring them out into the open before you. Then we ask that you purge us with hyssop and make us clean, wash us and make us whiter than snow. Let us rediscover the joy and gladness of your salvation as you renew a right spirit within us. God we ask that you hide your face from our sins and blot out all our iniquities.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
