Today’s Bible verse for Revival
In Exodus 3, God calls Moses to lead the nation of Israel out of Egypt. In this encounter with God, Moses sees a bush on fire, but not burning up, so he goes over to check it out. A voice from within the bush tells him to remove his shoes because he is standing on holy ground. And when Moses is given his marching orders he replies with, “Whom am I that I should go?”
Moses felt unqualified. He knew that while he was once recognized as a prince in Egypt, he now was known as a murderer – so why would God send him back to Egypt? When we look at the life of Moses, every event from the moment of his birth prepared him for the task God had for him. The same is true for us. When God calls us, you can be sure that he’s been at work in your life from the beginning to equip you to the task he has for you.
Who are you that you should go?
As we pray for revival, perhaps God is tugging at your heart to go to someone and tell them about Jesus. Maybe he’s asking you to go to someone who has wronged you and tell them you forgive them. If we sincerely pray for revival and want to see God do something great in our nation, then be prepared to receive an assignment from God. It isn’t that God “needs” us in order to carryout his plans and his will, but rather he chooses to often work through us to do so. God is fully capable of working out His will without us. But he chooses to invite us to join him as we allow him to work through us. Who are you that you should go – you’re the one God specifically equipped and chose – so go in the power and strength of the Lord.
The Need for Revival
- Is God asking you to do something that would bring revival to our nation? Are you being obedient to what He’s telling you to do?
- Has God been calling you, but you’ve just offered excuses as to why you’re not the right person for the job?
Praying for Revival
Father, in your omnipotence and sovereignty, you do not need us to accomplish anything in this world. With just a spoken word you created the universe out of nothing. We are broken, sinful people yet still you invite us in to join you in your work. Give us boldness to do what you ask us to do. Empower us to accomplish the task you’ve set before us. Use us, Lord, as you send your Spirit to bring revival to our nation.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
