Do we need a revival?
Keeping the Sabbath
Whether your Sabbath is Saturday or Sunday, do you keep it holy? Exodus 31:13-14 tells us that keeping the Sabbath is a sign between us and God so that we may know that God is the one who sanctifies us and sets apart to be his own children. We are to keep the Sabbath, because it is holy. It is the day we are to focus our attention on God, worship Him, fellowship with other believers, praise Him, allow Him to convict us, mold us, and grow us into His image.
Revival is needed when we fail to keep the Sabbath holy
However, if the Superbowl game or fishing or sleeping in is more important, then you’re not keeping the Sabbath. If you’re more concerned with professional or financial gain then spiritual gain, you’re not keeping the Sabbath. When church becomes more of a social gathering than a worship gather, we’re not keeping the Sabbath holy. If you are too busy criticizing the music or the pastor than you are listening to what God wants to say to you, you’re not keeping the Sabbath holy. Keeping the Sabbath holy should be an intimate act of worship between you and God. What do you need to do to keep the Sabbath holy?
The Need for Revival
- Spend time alone with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to show you how you have not kept the Sabbath holy.
- What adjustments do you need to make so that the Sabbath is experienced as God intended?
Praying for Revival
Father, forgive us for not honoring you by keeping your Sabbath holy. Prick our hearts and give a zeal and passion to worship you and set aside our Sabbath day as a holy day to rest in you.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
