A daily verse about the state of our nation and time for Christians reflect and unite in prayer, asking God to send a revival across our land and turn our nation back to Him.
Do we need a revival?
Submit yourselves to God
The key to experiencing revival is submitting to God. Satan will do anything and everything to keep us from living in the joyous relationship with God that our salvation provides. We are constantly fighting a spiritual battle. James tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from you. We resist him just as Jesus did when the devil tempted him – by hiding the Word of God in our hearts. This is how we draw near to God – through knowing the Bible and spending time in prayer. The nearer we are to God, the more successful we will be in resisting the devil.
Revival requires us to cleanse your hands, purify your hearts
James tells his readers to “be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.” We are not to treat our sin lightly. When we realize we’ve fallen into sin, it should break our heart like it breaks God’s heart. Then as we repent and experience His forgiveness, we experience revival in our hearts and our relationship with God is restored.
The Need for Revival
- When you sin, is your reaction what James writes: mourning, weeping, gloom? Does it break your heart when you sin against God?
- Spend some time alone with God to cleanse your hands and purify your heart.
Praying for Revival
Father, oh how your sin grieve you. To think of what our sin cost you – what it cost Jesus – and we treat your free gift of salvation so casually and lightly. Give us hearts that sees sin the way you see it. Break us so that we can experience revival.
Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
