“We neglect exercise either out of nothing but laziness or fill our calendars so full there’s no time for exercise. Our muscles become weak, including our heart muscle.” — Julia Bruce
“Jesus is referring to being spiritually dead in sin. However, when we neglect our physical selves, we bring a slow dying process to our bones – or our bodies – while we fill them up with every impurity known to man – caffeine to stay away or to have a little more energy, fats that clog our arteries, sugar and carbs that adds on the pounds.”– Julia Bruce
“If we apply Matthew 23:27 to physical self care, we would not want the Holy Spirit living inside of us surrounded by “dead men’s bones and every impurity.”– Julia Bruce
“Look at the accusation Jesus makes in Matthew 23:27: ‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and every impurity.”– Julia Bruce
Jesus described the scribes and Pharisees as beautiful on the outside, but on the inside they were nothing more than rotting, decaying bones. They painted a good picture of “righteousness” for everyone to see, but their hearts were full of pride and sin. Most of us don’t like people like that, but sometimes we are just as guilty.
