Revival: It Starts Right Here

2 Chronicles 7:14 - the formula for revival

The Revive America Campaign

Revival starts with “If my people

2 Chronicles 7:14 begins with “If my people.” This verse is probably one of the most quoted verses in the Bible when we think about revival. “If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked way, then will I hear them from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.” It’s like a formula for revival. It’s an if-then conditional statement.

In a conditional statement, the “then” part of the statement can’t happen if the “if” part doesn’t happen. For this conditional statement, the “if” part is up to us and the “then” part is up to God. The part we like in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the “then” part. The part of the formula that God does. His part is to hear us from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. And if ever America needed healing – it’s now.

But the first part of the verse is the “if” part of the conditional statement. That’s our part. The “if” statement begins with “If my people.” Let’s take these three words and go deeper into them.

If…

In the animated Disney film, “Cinderella,” the invitation for the ball is delivered and Cinderella interrupts voice lessons and takes it to her stepmother who reads it. The stepsisters dance around all excited. Cinderella says, “I can go too. It says ‘every eligible maiden’ is invited.” The cunning, unkind stepmother agrees, much to the surprise and dismay to the sisters. She says, “So it does. You can go if you get all your work done. And if you can find something suitable to wear.” Cinderella kindly says, “Yes, stepmother” and gets to work. As she leaves the room the stepsisters look at their mother in total dismay and say, “Do you realize what you said?!” Stepmother says, “Yes. I said IF.” After a moment of that little word sinking into their brains they catch on to the stepmother’s plan and say, “Ohhhh…IF.” [watch the clip here]

You see, Stepmother never had any intention of Cinderella going to the ball. Her “IF” was intended to keep Cinderella away from the ball. If Cinderella wanted to go, then she had to get her work done – a long list of chores designed to be sure that she wouldn’t be able to get it done in time to go. But the IF in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is intended to bring us back to God when we turn away from Him. This “IF” is for us – not against us.

If my…

The next word is “my.” If my. We have to know who is talking in this verse if we are to understand “my.” God is speaking to King Solomon in this verse following the dedication of the temple that he built for God. God fills the temple with His holy presence and tells Solomon that when God shuts up the heavens so there is no rain, or commands the locust to devour the land, or sends pestilence among the people that the people should humble themselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from their wicked ways.

Pestilence is a deadly disaster, usually a disease, that affects an entire community. It is contagious, virulent, and devastating. For example, the Black Plague in Europe that killed over thirty percent of the population during the late Middle Ages was a pestilence. In the Bible, pestilence is usually a sign of God’s judgment on a nation or people group.

Pestilence in the Bible

  • Deuteronomy 32:24. “they shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured by plague and poisonous pestilence; I will send the teeth of beasts against them, with the venom of things that crawl in the dust.”
  • 1 Chronicles 21:12. “either three years of famine, or three months of devastation by your foes while the sword of your enemies overtakes you, or else three days of the sword of the Lord, pestilence on the land, with the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.’ Now decide what answer I shall return to him who sent me.”
  • Ezekiel 7:14–15. “They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but none goes to battle, for my wrath is upon all their multitude. The sword is without; pestilence and famine are within. He who is in the field dies by the sword, and him who is in the city famine and pestilence devour.”

COVID-19 is a pestilence. So, if we follow Biblical example, COVID-19 could, in fact, be a judgement from God because we have turned away from Him and chose to live however we want without any regards to God’s laws and commands.

If my people…

The next word is “people.” “If my people.” Or we could say, “If God’s people.” Who are these “people?” This verse isn’t written for those who are lost and without Christ. Just behind this phrase, the verse says, “who are called by my name.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 is not about evangelizing the lost. It’s about God’s people called by His name – the Christians – returning to him when they have wandered away from him, choosing to live the way they want instead of living to honor and glorify Him by living His way. It is a call to Christians to humble themselves and pray. It a call to Christians to seek the face of God and turn from their wicked ways. When we do so, with a genuineness of heart, then God will hear our prayers from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land.

Revival

You see, that’s what revival is all about. The prefix in the word revival is “re,” which means, “back” or “again.” So, the word revival, then means, “restore to life or consciousness,” or “regain life, consciousness, or strength,” or “give new strength or energy to.” Revival isn’t for the lost, that’s what evangelism is for. Revival is about restoring spiritual life or consciousness to the Christian. But let me be clear here. Restoring spiritual life doesn’t mean one can “lose” their salvation. Jesus made it clear that nothing can “pluck us out” of His Father’s hand (John 10:29). Paul also told us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. (Romans 8:38-39).

Restoring spiritual life is about taking a dull, weak, worn out faith and having the Spirit of God breathe a newness into it to give us a renewed zeal and passion for God. To give us renewed strength and energy to our prayer life. To give us a renewed awe and reverence for God. And when our spiritual life is restored and renewed, the outcome is a renewed passion for worship and a desire to live with passion for Him.

When we have experienced true revival, several things occur:

  • We can’t wait to spend time in Bible study and prayer.
  • Our churches will not have to beg people to serve.
  • We will be excited to share our faith with the lost.
  • Our hearts will become burdened for the state of our nation and our world.
  • We’ll gladly give a tithe – with a joyful heart.
  • Instead of living with fear over our heads, we’ll live by faith.
  • We’ll long for a close, intimate relationship with our Father.
  • Our hearts will be broken for the things that breaks God’s heart.

Revival is about God chasing after us to call us back to Him

You see, our heavenly Father chases after us, calling us back to Him whenever we wander away. But in our pride and stubbornness, God sometimes has to get our attention. Sometimes, we become so complacent that He has to wake us up. And when God has had enough of our stubbornness and complacency, He sends judgement. Isn’t it sad that it takes judgement to make us turn back to God? And if COVID-19 is God’s judgement designed to bring us back to Him, then how bad do things have to get before we – God’s people – humble ourselves and pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways?

Examples of Revival

God gives us the lives of two people in the Bible to illustrate exactly how God loves us and constantly seeks us out and brings us back to Him. This story metaphorically compares Israel’s abandonment of God to a woman being unfaithful to her husband. You’ll find it the Old Testament book, Hosea. In this book. God tells Hosea that he is to go out and find a wife who is a prostitute. So, Hosea marries Gomer. He knows that her lifestyle of being a prostitute will mean that she will be unfaithful to him. And she does, in fact, leave him and go back to her old way of life. But Hosea finds her and brings her home and restores her as his wife once again.

While this is a very brief summary of the books, the point of the book of Hosea is that is repetitive cycles of judgement and restoration, we find that God makes it clear that He will bring judgment on sin, but He will also always bring His people back to Himself. Hosea 2:16, 19, says: ” And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ …And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord.

We are like Gomer

Just as Hosea loved Gomer, a woman more interested in herself than anyone else, so God loves His people who are also more interested in themselves. Gomer gives no respect to her husband anymore than God’s people cared to have God’s direction in their lives. They chose idolatry and injustice over God’s commands that were meant for their protection and care.

Today, we are no different. We choose to live like the world, walk like the world, and smell like world. We stray from the love and protection of our heavenly father and exchange the status of “the bride of Christ” to be the “whore with the world.” We reject living God’s way so we can live the way we want to. And when we don’t like God’s commands, we simply toss them out or change it so that our sin becomes okay. The nation of Israel lived as if they were not God’s people, and we do the same. We are just as wayward as Israel was to God – and as Gomer was to Hosea.

Revival starts right here

As a result of their stubbornness and pride that refused to repent, God did judge Israel. But in that judgement God was calling them back to Himself. He was calling them to revival. The judgement of Israel was meant to cause the people to seek the God with humbled hearts of repentance. Today, God is calling America to repent and come back to Him. Casting Crowns released a song entitled, “Start Right Here” that pegs us right where we are:

We want our coffee in the lobby
And watch our worship on a screen
We got a Rockstar preacher
Who won’t wake us from our dreams
We want out blessings in our pocket
We keep our missions overseas
But for the hurting in our cities
Would we even cross the street?

But we wanna see the heart set free and the tyrants kneel
The walls fall down and our land be healed
But church if we want to see a change in the world out there

It’s got to start right here
It’s got to start right now
Lord, I’m starting right here
Lord, I’m starting right now.

You see, revival starts right here with me (and you). And it starts right now when we humble ourselves and pray, and seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways. Will you humble yourself right now before God and allow revival to start right now in your heart?

Revival Prayers: Worshiping Idols (Acts 17:27)

by Julia Bruce
CEO & Keynote speaker

Today’s verse for Revival

The Idol of the “Unknown God”

Wherever there is a need for revival, one can probably find there is an idol problem. In Acts 17:22-31 Paul was waiting in Athens for Timothy and Silas to join him. We find that Paul’s spirit was troubled within him because of all the idols that were in Athens. In fact, the Athenians wanted to be so sure they had every god accounted for that there was even an idol to “the unknown god.”

In Romans 1:20, Paul said, “For his [God’s] invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

The Athenians may have been worshiping idols in ignorance because they did not know about the “unknown god”. However, God’s invisible attributes, eternal power, divine nature had been perceived. And, at some level, they knew there was a God who was responsible for all of creation because they made an idol for this God they did not know. Because of this, they were without excuse for being ignorant. Neither are we. Paul stepped up to remedy their ignorance and preached the gospel to them and with his words preserved within Acts 17, he remedies our ignorance as well. As you continue reading, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any idols you have in your life and invite Him to start a revival in your heart as you surrender your idols to Him.

Idols that we worshiping in ignorance gets in the way of Revival

Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it—He is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in shrines made by hands. Neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives everyone life and breath and all things.— Acts 17:23-25

The idols we worship in ignorance

All of us are guilty of creating idols in our lives. Perhaps you worship God every Sunday, but you still have some idols that you are worshipping too. Like the Athenians, you might have a lot of idols. They may not be in a shrine or carved out of stone or cast into golden images – but we have idols just the same. They may look more like our career, image, position, money, possessions, hobbies, or children. Whenever we make things or people more important than our personal relationship with God, we have “demoted” God and “promoted” these other things or people to status of idol. Just ask yourself what you give the most time, money or attention to and if its anything other than God, then you’ve found an idol.

Idols get in the way of the revival work of the Holy Spirit. So if we are to experience revival in America, it is important that each one of us take time alone with the Holy Spirit and ask Him about the idols we’ve created. You can no longer worship these idol in ignorance once He reveals them to you. Romans 1:24-25 teaches us, “Therefore God delivered them over in the cravings of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!

We need to exchange our idols for a revival

How do idols hinder revival? Idols exchange the truth about God for the lie of the idol that you worship. Do you believe your idol will bring you peace, happiness, contentment, love, joy? If you do, then, yes, you have exchanged the truth about God for the lie of your idol. You will only know lasting and true peace, happiness, contentment, love, and joy when you surrender your heart to God and make Him the God you worship with all your heart, mind, and soul. It is only in surrendering our idols that we will experience revival.

Hidden idols we worship in ignorance also stop revival

When ministry becomes an idol

Sometimes we make ministry an idol. We can be guilty of forming our identity in the ministry we serve in rather than in Christ. We look for that next “bigger” ministry or greater opportunity rather than serving where God has called us to serve. Whether the ministry is a megachurch or a large non-profit, or you’ve become a well-known Christian speaker ask yourself – “What’s my motivation?” Then ask the Holy Spirit, “What’s my motivation?”

If you are struggling with your “small” ministry and can’t understand why God doesn’t grow your ministry or move you to a bigger one, ask yourself – “What’s my motivation?” Then ask the Holy Spirit, “What’s my motivation?”

If your motivation is or has become more about fame, self-importance, recognition, or money, then your ministry has become an idol you are worshiping and it’s time to invite the Holy Spirit to start a revival in you. However, unlike the Athenians, you are not worshiping your idol in ignorance. You’re idolatry is just a straight up sin – because you know God and choose to make ministry an idol.

When church becomes an idol

Sometimes we are guilty of making an idol out of the building we call “church.” We can get so wrapped up in the color of the carpet, the style of worship, or even the time or day we worship until we create divisions within the body of Christ that God never intended, nor does He want. We need to remember that God made the world and everything in it. He is Lord of heaven and earth. He does not dwell in the church building, even though we may call it “God’s House.” God isn’t after the best looking building or the perfect grounds (although we should honor God by taking care of what He has blessed us with). What God is after is our hearts – totally sold out and surrendered to Him – which is what happens when we trade our idols for revival.

Being God’s offspring then, we shouldn’t think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image fashioned by human art and imagination. –Acts 17:29

We need to remember that he dwells within each believer. Our bodies are His temple. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). So whether there is a pulpit or not on the stage, doesn’t matter. The color of the carpets don’t matter. Where the piano is positioned on the stage doesn’t matter. Whether there is a choir or praise team doesn’t matter. What matters are these simple questions: Does God dwell within you? If He does, then does He have first place in your life? If not, are you seeking Him?

Seeking God is the beginning of Revival

From one man He has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. He did this so they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring. — Acts 17:26-28

God created each and every one of us. From Adam and down to the newest baby just conceived. He has determined everything about us – from the moment in time and history that we live, where we live, to whom we are born, our nationality, our personality, and our individuality. He gifted us with exactly what we need to fulfill the purpose for which He created us. Why? So that we might seek Him and just maybe reach out and find our Creator.

Why am I here?

Just about every single person at some point in their life will ask “Why am I here? What’s my purpose?” We all seek that because in seeking the answer, it draws us to our creator who knows the answer. However, if we seek the answer through career, status, partying, drugs, or sex, the question goes unanswered and we become miserable people. We only find the answer to our purpose and being in God. Paul said we live, move, and exist because God willed it to be so. Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

In Jeremiah 29:11, we find that God has plans for us – good plans. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Jesus said in John 15:16, “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit.” In other words, we have been called by God to tell others about God and lead people to Him. Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” — That’s why we were created — for God’s glory.

The time of worshiping idols in ignorance is over – let’s seek Revival

“Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because He has set a day when He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.” –Acts 17:30-31

If you have been worshiping an idol and unaware of doing so, the time of ignorance is over. The Holy Spirit may be speaking to you right now to repent and return or make God the God you worship with all your heart, mind and soul. If you’ve felt lately that you life is out of balance, that something is off, or that God feels far away, then its time to seek Him with a repentant heart.

A Set day of Judgement

God has established and set a day when He is going to judge the world. His measure of doing so will be according to the righteousness by the Man He has appointed – Jesus – God’s only Son who lived a sinless life and died in our place to pay the penalty and price for our sin. And then God added proof to whom Jesus is by raising Him from the dead. 1 Corinthians 6:9 says, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?” On God’s set day of judgement will God find you righteous or unrighteous?

Depart from iniquity

2 Timothy 2:19 tells us, “But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” If you’ve discovered idols in your life, God gave as part of what we call the Ten Commandment, this command in Exodus 20:3, “You shall have no other gods before me.” If you’ve discovered an idol, then you have a ‘god’ that you have placed before God and you have iniquity or sin.

God calls all people everywhere to repent

There are many memes going around about 2020 and all that is taking place in our world today. Idolatry was one the biggest reason that God judged Israel and Judah and America is just as guilty. Perhaps the biggest idol America is guilty of is the idol of “I.” We live life according to how each one of us wants to without regards to what God says. We’ve kicked God’s laws to the curb and instill our own so that we can live without guilt. But God’s laws still stand no matter how we attempt to rewrite them and when God’s day of judgement comes, it will be by His laws, not ours.

God is calling America to repent, but our hearts have become as hardened as Israel and Judah. How bad do things have to get before God’s people humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and repent? If we are to see a revival in America – if we want to see God heal our land – then we must remove idols and seek God with all our heart and soul as we humbly come to Him in repentance.

Today’s Revival prayer:

Father, give us a hunger and thirst for righteousness that causes us to seek after you with all our hearts, minds, and soul. May we say, with David, “As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs for you.” God, reveal and convicts us of any idols we have created in our lives. Help us to see the lie of the idol and exchange it for Your truth. God, today, your people stand before You, choosing to throw down our idol and bow before you in worship and praise of our Holy and loving Creator.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

“The coming revival must begin with a great prayer revival. It is in the closet, with the door shut, that the sound of abundant revival will be first heard. An increase in the secret prayer of ministers and members will be the sure herald of blessing.”

Why is daily Bible reading important?

Bible Reading is vitally important to growing spiritually and keeping our spiritual selves full. God wants us to hide His Word in our hearts, meditate on it and apply it to our lives. When we have a plan, we are more likely to follow through. Here are eight reasons you should have a daily Bible Reading plan:

  • We can find His will for our lives
  • Bible reading is our spiritual nourishment
  • It helps us be able to discern the thoughts and intents of our heart.
  • The Bible instructs us in righteousness
  • It gives us power to overcome trials, heartaches, and sin
  • God gives us many promises, but you won’t know them unless you read about them, memorize them, and know if it’s a promise intended for us today
  • God reveals Himself to us and we learn about Him which strengthens our relationship with Him
  • He also speaks to us through His Word.

Don’t miss what God has to say to you today.
It’s time to practice spiritual self-care and read your Bible!

Practice Spiritual Self care and dig into God’s Word today to be revived and renewed!

Luke 15:20. Judgement or Compassion?

April 16 Luke 15 20 NKJV

One of the most joyful phrases of the Bible is found in the story of the prodigal son. In verse 17 of Luke 15, it says, “And then he came to himself.” Why is this phrase joyful? It is a realization of wrong and a heart that is ready to repent. The prodigal son realizes he is at his “rock bottom” with no where else to go and if he hangs on to his stubbornness and pride he will starve to death. He realizes that even the servants in his father’s household have plenty to eat while he is ready to eat the muck he’s feeding to pigs. But…then he comes to himself. It’s a point in his story where he makes a life changing decision and returns home.

Who do you know in your life that is a “prodigal”? Someone who turns away to reckless and wasteful living. Someone who has walked away from the Christian faith to live like the world. It might be a child, a relative, a friend, a coworker, or fellow church member. Maybe it’s you. One of the biggest hindrances to a prodigal finding their way home is the fear of being judged, unforgiven, unloved, unwanted, and unwelcomed.

In Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son, we find a father of compassion and brother of judgement. The older brother in the story was angry the prodigal son had come home and he was even more angry that his father welcomed him with open arms and held a great feast for him. All he could see was how faithful he had been to his father and he knew that all that his father had should one day be his. Perhaps there was some fear that this brother that returned would be given some of what should become his. Instead of celebrating that his brother was safe, alive, and back home, he was full of self-centeredness, judgement and jealousy.

Whenever I read this story, I imagine the father walking to the end of his property every morning and every night and taking a long look down the road – looking for his son to come home. I imagine him on his knees in prayer, praying for God to keep his son safe and to bring him back home. I imagine the day the son comes walking down the road, barely alive. Hungry. His clothes torn, dirty and hanging on him with all the weight he’s lost. He’s barely recognizable. But there is something about a parent’s love for their child and as his father looks down the road just as the sun is setting, about to turn back home, he takes one last look and just over the hill comes the figure of a man walking. He recognizes the gait – it shows the man is tired – but it’s his gait. He looks a little longer, with hope in his eyes. The man gets a little closer. The man’s hair is dirty and matted together. His eyes are tired, sunken into a face that hasn’t eaten in a long time. His feet are dirty – maybe even bloody from the long walk. In his eyes there is regret, fear of rejection, uncertainty. As he looks up he sees his father and stops – not sure of how he will be received. The two stare at each other for a moment and as the realization sets in on the father that this is indeed his son – the father lets out a whelp of joy and runs to his son. Tears of joy stream down his face. He embraces his son, not caring about the filth or stench. He calls his servants and instructs them to bring his son new clothes and to prepare a feast. He wraps an arm around his son, helping him make the last steps home.

God is like the father in the parable of the prodigal son. No matter how far away from Him we roam and no matter what we get ourselves mixed up in, when we return with a contrite heart and ask for His forgiveness, God will open His arms to us and welcome us home with joy and celebration. The brother is more like the world who wants to judge all the mistakes and poor choices and then when the prodigal returns they become angry, unforgiving, doubting if the repentance is genuine. And if God should choose to use the mistakes and lessons learned to bring Him honor and glory then the world steps in to say, “how could God ever use them?”

Think back to the prodigal you know. Who will you choose to be more like: the April 16 cttcompassionate father or the judgmental son? Would you be the one to wrap your arm around the prodigal and help them make the last steps home? If the prodigal knew that compassion and forgiveness awaited them, would they be more likely to return once they reach the point of repentance?

God, help us to recognize the prodigals – not to judge, but to be the one that helps them find their way back home. Give us hearts of compassion, ready to forgive, and welcome them home with joy. When you choose to use their story for your glory – help us be encouragers and seek ways to help them carry out their calling.

Don’t forget to learn this week’s memory verse:

Memorize and hide in your heart one memory verse each week in 2020. If you didn’t start the challenge at the beginning of the year, just jump in now and be sure to sign up to get our weekly Memory verse in your email so you don’t miss a week.

memory verse logoIn 2020 our emphasis is on revival for America with three key words: revive, renew, and redeem. You will begin to see the elements of our website and posts reflect this emphasis. We hope you’ll join us in praying for God to pour out the Holy Spirit with a mighty rushing wind of revival for our nation and around the world.

Our key verse for revival is 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.  For the past few  weeks, we have been focusing on repentance. This week, we look at the spiritual transformation that takes place when we surrender our heart to God.

This week’s memory verse:

Matthew 28:5-6

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

078924: A Nation in Crisis

A Nation in Crisis

By Ray Stedman / Discovery House

Every day the headlines announce more violence and evil. Our hearts groan as we wonder what life will be like for the next generation. It all seems hopeless, which is probably how Jeremiah felt as he lived among the people of the nation of Judah.

Jeremiah was a reluctant but faithful prophet who spent forty-two years serving God and warning the people to repent. His heart was saddened and angered by the people’s indifference to God and the moral decay that surrounded him. Everything was falling apart–yet Jeremiah continued to seek the Lord.

As we face personal trauma and national crisis, we can learn from the prophet’s example. Ray Stedman walks us through the book of Jeremiah, revealing that repentance was the only answer then–and it’s the only answer today. When people repent, God is faithful to His Word, planting the seeds of new life and giving us hope.

710399: Come Down, Lord!

Come Down, Lord!

By Roger Ellsworth / Banner of Truth

Come Down, Lord! is a succinct, readable and biblically-based treatment of the vital theme of revival. Its seven short chapters go directly to the heart of the matter, as their headings indicate: We miss You; We need you; We wait for You; We will meet You; We have wronged You; We belong to You; We beseech You.Taking as his starting place the widespread absence of the sense of God’s holy presence and our need of his grace, Roger Ellsworth traces the profound analysis of the church’s spiritual decay outlined in Isaiah 63:3-64:12, and applies its message to our times.
