Memorize & Meditate

scripture memory graphicEach week we will post a scripture to challenge you to hide God’s Word in your heart. Commit it to memory, meditate on it and apply it to your life.

March 11-17

 Mark 16:15

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned

Meditate and apply:

  1. While not everyone is called to go to another country and be a missionary, Jesus commands all of us to spread the Good News of the Gospel wherever we are.
  2. We should always have our “spiritual ears” turned on and in tune to hear God leading us to tell someone about Him. The people we encounter every day could be placed there for a divine encounter – much like Jesus and the Woman at the Well.
  3. What are ways you can “preach the gospel” in your every day life: at work, at a restaurant, at the park, at church, at the grocery store, at the doctor’s office, with the homeless – wherever you are each and every day with the people you encounter as you do life?
  4. Commit to telling at least three people about Jesus this week.

March 4-10

Deuteronomy 4:29

You will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Meditate and apply:

  1. When are the moments that we seek God? It’s when we are going through difficult times.
  2. In the moments that you cry out, “God where are you?” Are you just looking for a quick fix to the difficulty or are you searching for Him with all your heart and all your soul?
  3. In Deuteronomy 4:29, God promises us that we will find Him if we seek Him earnestly and wholeheartedly.
  4. When it feels like we can’t find God, it’s usually because there is sin that is standing between us and God or because we think we can go through life without surrendering everything to Him. We want to control everything and God wants us to yield control to Him.

Memorize & Meditate

Each week we will post a scripture to challenge you to hide God’s Word in your heart. Commit it to memory, meditate on it and apply it to your life.

February 25-March 3

Mark 8:36

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Meditate and apply:

  1. A person could gain every bit of wealth, fame, fortune, etc. this world could offer, but without Christ as their Savior, their soul is lost for all of eternity and doomed to spend eternity in Hell. Is there any person or thing that you hold of more value than your relationship with Christ or that holds you back from surrendering your life to Christ?
  2. The soul is the essence of humanity – the part that lives on into eternity.
  3. There are no riches, good works, acts of kindness, religious rituals that are enough (even if you could afford to purchase the whole world) that would allow you into Heaven.
  4. There is only one way to salvation and that is by faith in the redeeming grace of Jesus’s sacrificial death, burial and resurrection. If you are basing your eternal life in Heaven on any other way, then your soul will be lost eternally.
  5. As Christians, we can sometimes hang on to areas that we don’t want to let go of and try to live the Christian life without surrendering those areas to God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The only way for those old ways to become new is by surrendering them to God and allow Him to change us into the new person He wants us to be. What areas of your life have you not totally surrendered to God?
