Self-Care Tip in a Pandemic

In a pandemic virus, self care is as important as masks and washing hands. Get practical, daily self care tips to help you get through the pandemic.

Sunday’s Spiritual Self-Care Tip

“Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” — Mark 6:31

In a journal write about one of the following:

How does God show you who He is through nature?

How do you see God at work in your life?

What is one way you have grown spiritually in the last three months?

Through what verse in the Bible has God speaking to you and what is this verse saying? What action does God want you to take?

(Don’t forget to practice social distancing, wash your hands and wear your mask!)

Self-Care Tip in a Pandemic

In a pandemic virus, self care is as important as masks and washing hands. Get practical, daily self care tips to help you get through the pandemic.

Monday’s Physical Self-Care Tip

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:…a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” — Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

Take time to play your favorite sport or learn a new sport.

Looking for something new and different? Try one of the following:

Sepak Takraw is a popular sport in Southeast Asia, this action-packed game resembles volleyball but instead of hands, players use their feet, knees, chest, and head to move the ball around, which is made from softwood

Quidditch was first described in the popular Harry Potter book series, which is meant to be played on flying broomsticks. A land version has since been created that is played on a hockey field. The game first began in US colleges and has since spread across the states. Supporters refer to the game as a muggle quidditch because muggles are what the book characters call non-magic folk.

Tuna Tossing began in South Australia in the small fishing community of Port Lincoln where local fishermen would toss fish onto their trucks with force and started being used as a way to spice up a local festival. The winner is the person who manages to throw a 20-pound fish the furthest. For a less messy option try a rubber tuna.

unusual sports - Toe Wrestling

Toe wrestling is similar to arm wrestling with players attempting to pin down their opponent’s toes for three seconds. Players play with their bare feet alternating between their left and right feet and play the best of three rounds.

The North Pole may have Reindeer games, but in the south you can find Redneck Games in East Dublin, Georgia every summer since 1996 and involves unique sports you might not see other sporting events. Some of the events include toilet seat tossing, seed spitting, mud belly flops, armpit serenades, and dumpster diving.

unusual sports - Giant Pumpkin Kayaking

Giant Pumpkin Kayaking might be a good way to spice up your normal spin in the kayak. Just empty out the guts, dump it in the water and climb right in. (That’s a lot of pumpkin pie to be made!) The race is around half a mile long, and participants typically decorate their pumpkins in a colorful way.

Underwater football is a unique spin on American football. Instead of being played on a football field it’s played in swimming pool. Players wear snorkeling equipment and are tasked with getting the weighted football to the gutter on the other side of the pool.

unusual sports - Unicycle Hockey

Unicycle hockey is pretty much nothing more than hockey on unicycles. Instead of being played on ice, the game is played in a gym and instead of a puck, a tennis ball is used. Each team consists of 5 players who are required to have both feet on their unicycle at all times.

What’s the most unusual sport you’ve ever played?

(Don’t forget to practice social distancing, wash your hands and wear your mask!)
