A daily verse about the state of our nation and time for Christians reflect and unite in prayer, asking God to send a revival across our land and turn our nation back to Him.

Do we need a revival?

God of mercy and grace, endlessly patient

Each one of us can be thankful that God is a God of mercy, grace, and endlessly patient. Otherwise, the very first time you sinned, you’d be killed. That’s the wages of sin – death. But because of God’s everlasting, unconditional love for us, he does forgive iniquity, rebellion and sin. That is good news for us. But God is also very clear that he doesn’t ignore sin. He does deal with it and if left unchecked, it does bring God’s judgment. Our nation has been sinning more and more for decades. We have failed to repent. God’s people have not stood up as laws have been passed that are direct violations of God’s commands. And now, God is ignoring our sin no longer.

Without repentance and revival, our nation is going to experience more of God’s judgement. How bad do things have to get before we see the need for repentance and revival?

Revival is needed when a nation refuses to repent

It is time for the Christians to wake up out of complacency and understand the urgent need for revival in our nation. We, God’s people, need to lead the way by first repenting of our own sins and our complacency that has looked the other way as laws were passed to stop prayer in schools, make abortions legalized murder of innocent children, and redefined marriage. We’ve not been moved to stand up for God as these laws were passed. More and more our national leaders desire to remove God from our national symbols and God’s laws from our courtrooms and government buildings. When will God’s people stand up for God? When will we fall on our knees with a broken and contrite heart?

The Need for Revival

1. Thank God for his mercy, grace, patience and love.
2. Seek forgiveness for sins in your own life.
3. Intercede for our nation and ask God to forgive the sins of our nation.
4. Ask God to raise up leaders in our nation that fear Him and will lead our nation to serve and obey God.

Praying for Revival

Father, thank you for being a God of mercy and grace. A God that is abundantly patient and compassionately loving. But God, we can’t stop there in recognizing your attributes, for you are also holy and cannot look upon sin — and our nation’s sins are deep and grave. But God, we ask you to not turn you head against us, but to go in the midst of us. To forgive your people for our complacency. To acknowledge that when we should have stood up for you, we sat back and watched from the sidelines as our government leaders have moved us away from you. And we intercede for our nation, seeking your face and your forgiveness with humble hearts. Forgive us, O Lord, and renew a right spirit within us. Cleanse us of our sin and turn our hearts toward you.

Lord, send a revival and let it begin in me.
