Did you Pray for Your Pastor?

It’s Saturday. Your pastor needs your prayers before standing in the pulpit tomorrow. Will you intercede and pray for him?

Your pastor has been called to be the shepherd of your church. To lead you towards spiritual maturity and to lead the lost to Christ. How often do you pray for your pastor?

In Luke 22:31, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat.” Why would Satan want to sift Peter like wheat? We can find the answer in Matthew 16:18. Here Jesus says to Peter, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” God’s plan for Peter was to build His Church. Your pastor has been called to continue building God’s Church. And that means that Satan wants to sift him like wheat too.

Your pastor stands in the forefront of spiritual warfare every day – but on Sunday as He preaches the word of God, the spiritual battle around him is strongest. This is warfare! And spiritual battles are best won when we get on our knees in prayer. Pray for your pastor today – and any other pastor your know.

How should you pray for your pastor?

Here are some areas our pastors need us to intercede on their behalf and pray for them. The left column has to do with him standing in the pulpit and preaching the Word of God. The right column has to do with his leading your congregation. The items across the bottom are for his personal needs. Let join together tonight and pray for our pastors.

Why does your pastor need prayer?

Pastors need prayer for many reasons. But one of the biggest reasons is to help protect him and his family from attack of Satan. You can pray for him to preach God’s message with boldness and authority as the Holy Spirit speaks through him. You can pray for God to place a hedge of protection around him and his family, to give him strength and power, and to fill him with the Holy Spirit.

Pastors also face stress and compassion fatigue. Some experience burnout. So ask God to renew his strength, to fill him with comfort, to give him rest, and to revive the joy and passion of his calling.
