A Full Reward

I have the joy and privilege of leading and working with some of the finest, Christian people I’ve met. My staff each feel called to the job they do and they pour everything they have into serving God. Each and every day, no matter how tired they are, how overwhelmed they are, how much work waits them, how many crises have to be solved in one work day – they serve Jesus and they serve Him well. At the end of each day, they’ve made a difference in many lives. Only when they reach Heaven will they truly understand the eternal impact on the many lives they’ve touched, simply because they were obedient to what God has called them to do. They are faithful and they have an eternal reward waiting for them far beyond anything they can image.

Ruth’s reward

Ruth is another young lady who gave her all and the Lord rewarded her loyalty and faithfulness. She demonstrated her faithfulness to her mother-in-law, even though she had no further obligations to Naomi after Ruth’s husband died. Yet, Ruth left her home and family to faithfully remain at her mother-in-law’s side. When she catches the eye of Boaz, Boaz is amazed at Ruth’s loyalty and faithfulness. As a result, he spoke a blessing over Ruth, asking God to repay Ruth and to shelter her under his wings like a mother bird would shelter her young.

Recompense

The King James Version uses the word, “recompense.” This word means “to pay back or give a reward – a payment for loss, service, or injury – to compensate.” However, Boaz doesn’t only speak the blessing, he also goes to work to ensure that Ruth is indeed compensated and God works through Boaz to bring Boaz’s spoken blessing to life. As we read Ruth’s story, we find that Boaz becomes Ruth’s kinsman redeemer and he marries her. Then, through them, all those who come to faith in Christ share in Ruth’s reward.

Ruth’s reward is our reward

It is through the bloodline of Ruth and Boaz that Christ was born – and because of that we all reap eternal rewards – all because of Ruth’s faithfulness. What eternal impact do you have on the world as you faithfully live out and obey God’s call in your life? You never know how your faithfulness will have an impact on others for generations to come. Galatians 6:9 tells us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Life can be hard. Ministry can be hard. Serving God can be hard. But don’t give up. Whether your reward comes in this life or in your eternal life, you will reap if you do not give up.

What eternal impact do you have on the world as you
faithfully live out and obey God’s call in your life?

To my staff, my prayer for you today and everyday: “May the Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord, under whose wings thou art come to trust.” You all inspire me everyday.

God, thank you for the joy of being able to join you in your plan and calling us to make a difference. May the work of our hands bring you honor and glory everyday. It is our honor to faithfully serve You.

Cover_mBOOKING NOW to be a host site for the NEW God, Love & Marshmallow Wars Book Tour & Couples Conference:

This event helps couples understand why the daily activities found in the book will equip them to build a stronger marriage and the book provides them with 365 intentional activities to take what they learn at the event and apply it on a daily basis. Through the event, couples will discover the Biblical “why” behind the categories of activities found in the book and the “how” these activities are important to building a stronger marriage. Focus points of the event includes :

  • How memorizing scripture together and studying God’s Word together as they study, meditate and apply scriptures related to marriage and life issues will help them develop marriages that honor God.
  • Why utilizing fun conversation starters that spark meaningful conversations will keep interest alive as they continually learn new things about each other.
  • Why keeping romance alive is essential to intimacy and connectivity.
  • How making memories and working together builds relationship investment bonds and how these investment bonds can become the knots that keeps them together through the tough times.
  • How they can understand what they are or are not contributing to the marriage as well as how they might be contributing to problems or potential problems within the relationship through the use of targeted, intentional personal reflections
  • Why it is important that couples never stop dating and how group dates with Christian friends can be both an encouragement and accountability to their own relationship.

During the event, couples will be given an activity from each focus point to do together, making this event an interactive, fun, and engaging event with practical, hands-on learning. Unlike other couple events that are over when the event ends, couples who attend the GLMW event will be able to apply what they learn when utilizing the book on a daily basis for a year. Since the book is not dated, couples are able to reuse the activities year after year to continue being intentional in strengthening their relationship with each other and with God as they strive to live out God’s design for marriage every day.

Learn more about hosting this event at your church or conference site by clicking here.

About the book: The GLMW book contains 365 daily challenges for couples to strengthen their relationships to each other and with God. Psalm 57:1 – Refuge in the Shadow of His Wings

Jul 29 Psalm 57 1.png

There has always been evil in the world, but it seems that with every passing day, more and more evil is exposed. It can leave us feeling unsafe, uncertain, unprotected. But there is a place where we can find refuge. The Psalmist uses an analogy of a birdbaby bird under wings.png gathering her young under wings to  tell us there is refuge in the shadow of God’s wings. Imagine for a moment what it is like for the baby birds. Under their mother’s wings, they find shelter from the storm. They find warmth. They are close enough to momma to hear her heartbeat. They feel the comfort of her embrace. They know she is keeping an eye on any danger that is near and she will defend them. Because under her wings is safety and refuge, they have no need to fear.

David certainly knew calamity as he battled against King Saul and his enemies sought His life. Over and over again throughout the Psalms we see David calling on God for mercy and deliverance, but we also see him placing his trust in God. He knew that God was a place of refuge from all his troubles.

A refuge is place where one can go for protection. It’s a place of safety and shelter from danger or trouble. It’s a place to run to when being pursued. Notice that a refuge does not mean that trouble or danger will never come. Rather, it’s a place where we can seek safety during the danger or trouble.

We need to also notice from this verse that David sought refuge under the wings of God. The verse does not say that God drew David under His wings. David had to put himself there. In order to do so, he had to place his trust, confidence, and hope in God. This is what placing yourself under God’s wings really means – trusting Him, even when you don’t understand why or when you can’t see God at work.

Consider the following:

  • Do you trust God when life seems to be falling apart?
  • Do you trust God when you or a loved one received a bad medical report?
  • Do you trust God when you lose your job?
  • Do you trust God when your marriage seems to be falling apart?
  • Do you trust God when one bad thing after another just keeps happening?
  • Do you trust God when there is a financial hardship?

Our faith and trust in God can grow when we make the active choice to trust Him and believe that He is in control of every situation. For each circumstance we face in life, we can choose to do things our own way or God’s way. We can choose to be angry about what we are facing, or trust and believe that God is always good and that He has good plans for us. We can choose to demand our own way or to wait on Him. We can choose to quit and walk away or to keep on believing that His Word is true and that He is faithful to keep His promises.

Trusting God comes down to one thing – it’s always our choice.
— click to tweet

Return for just a moment to the image of the baby birds hiding under their mother’s wings. Everything that is true for the baby birds, is true for us when we seek refuge under the wings of God. Under His wings:

  • We find shelter from the storms of life.
  • We find warmth in a cold and cruel world.
  • We can hear the heartbeat of God if we are close to Him
  • We can feel the comfort of His embrace
  • We can know that God is watching over us and keeping His eye on everything going on around us and in the world.
  • We have no need to fear when we are under His wings.

Imagine yourself there – under His wing.

Ruth 2:12 – A Recompense

Ruth 2:12

ruth 2 12

We all know someone who works long hours in the ministry of God, sometimes with seeing very little results. Pastors who stand behind the pulpit and preach the Word God has given them week after week and it seems as if no one is listening. The missionary in another country, alone, perhaps in a hostile environment and they see no one coming to Christ. The foster parent who lovingly cares for someone else’s child despite all the hurt, trauma, fears, and loss they bring with them. These people are heroes to me. They are some of the most loving people I know. They are the people who stood up when God called and said, “Here I am Lord, send me.” Yet statistically, they are also the people that burnout faster, deal with constant stress, and end up with compassion fatigue. So to all of you who said yes when Jesus called you, my prayer for you comes from the mouth of Boaz, ” May the Lord reward you for what you have done” and may He cover you with His wings so that you feel His love and presence today.
