Memorize & Meditate

Each week we will post a scripture to challenge you to hide God’s Word in your heart. Commit it to memory, meditate on it and apply it to your life.

February 11-17

Matthew 28:19-20

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even until the end of the world.

Meditate and apply:

  1. Not everyone is called of God to go to a foreign land to be a missionary and spread the good news of the gospel. Yet, we are all commissioned by Jesus to tell others about Him. Identify at least three people you can tell about Jesus this week.
  2. Even though we are not all called to be missionaries, we can all support missionaries. Missionaries need more than monetary support. They need prayer support, gifts/letters/cards from home, notes of encouragement, recognition of their birthdays/anniversaries. If you’d like to know more ways to connect and support missionaries, visit Here 2 There Ministries.
  3. The most obvious way to tell others about Jesus is through witnessing. We can also be creative in how we witness. For example, leave a tract on the restaurant table with the tip, anonymously leave a scripture verse on your coworkers’ desk, pray for God to lead you to people who need to hear about Him. What are other creative ways you can tell others about Jesus?
  4. For many, witnessing can be difficult or even scary. But Jesus promised He would be with us. We have to remember that if they reject the gospel, it is not us they are rejecting, but the invitation from God. The Great Commission does not promise that every person we witness to will come to Christ. Our job is to simply teach them about Jesus. What they do with Jesus is up to them. If they reject the gospel message, add them to your prayer list and pray for them until you hear they’ve made the decision to accept Christ. Sometimes we plant a seed and someone else will harvest it.
  5. Leading someone to Christ isn’t the end of our responsibility. We need to then continue working with that person to disciple them, help them get plugged into a church, follow through with baptism, and teach them how to share Christ with others. Be a spiritual mentor to those you lead to Christ. You can also be a mentor to someone who might be struggling in their faith.
