This week’s verse:

Job 28:28

The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.

Meditate and apply:

Fearing God does not mean we are afraid of him. Rather it is having a high and exalted reverence for Him as we stand in awe of his majesty, power, omnipotence, omniscience, sovereignty, wisdom, justice, and mercy as we humble ourselves before him in adoration and praise.
Psalm 33:8 says, “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. We tend to be in awe of things of the world, such as power, money, talent, intelligence, and beauty. But these things don’t impress God. God delights in those who fear him rather than trusting in their own human abilities or resources or those of the world.
Wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting. We are only able to do so when we measure anything or anyone up to the standards found in God’s word and through the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. God reveals to man what man can’t find out on his own because wisdom resides with God. Therefore, we act wisely when we follow God’s standards and shun evil.
Psalm 111:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
