• How they can understand what they are or are not contributing to the marriage as well as how they might be contributing to problems or potential problems within the relationship through the use of targeted, intentional personal reflections
• Why it is important that couples never stop dating and how group dates with Christian friends can be both an encouragement and accountability to their own relationship.

During the event, couples will be given an activity from each focus point to do together, making this event an interactive, fun, and engaging event with practical, hands-on learning. Unlike other couple events that are over when the event ends, couples who attend the GLMW event will be able to apply what they learn when utilizing the book on a daily basis for a year. Since the book is not dated, couples are able to reuse the activities year after year to continue being intentional in strengthening their relationship with each other and with God as they strive to live out God’s design for marriage every day.

If Jesus was from Alabama…

A little girl from Alabama went to church for the first time ever when she was visiting her grandparents in Michigan. When the pastor announced it was time for the Lord’s Supper, she was excited–and hungry. The congregation filed up to the altar rail, and the child watched in confusion as her grandparents received a wafer and small plastic cup of wine. She could hardly wait to get back to the pew to tell her grandma that Jesus wasn’t from Alabama.

“How do you know that, dear?” asked her grandma.

“Because that was the poorest meal I’ve ever seen,” she said. “Mama would’ve at least given everybody some corn bread and sweet tea.”

Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.  Laughter triggers the release of endorphins.  These are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, which promote an overall sense of well-being and temporary pain relief. Even God has a sense of humor! If you don’t believe me, just ask Abraham and Sarah who found out they would have a son at age 100. And there’s the platypus who has been described as being created from all the “left over parts.” Or what about the stork? In Job 39:17, it says that God created it without wisdom or good sense. In 1 Samuel 5, the Philistines captured the Ark of God and placed it in the temple of their false god named Dagon. The next morning, the false god had fallen over, as if bowing before the Ark of God. They stood it back up and the next morning it had fallen over again, this time with it’s head broke off. Jonah tried to run from God, was then swallowed up by a big fish who then barfed him up three days later. John made sure to mention in his Gospel that he beat Peter to the tomb (John 20:3-8). Thomas told the other disciples “Let’s go so that we may die with Him” on the way to the home of Lazarus whom Jesus was about to raise from the dead (John 11:16).
