Read Monday’s post here: Prayers for Revival: Search Me, O God

If you missed Monday’s post, start by reading it here. Revival begins with a humble heart that is willing to to say, ” Search me O God.” Each day this week we will focus on a different area of our lives to ask God to search our hearts for anything offensive within us.

Today’s “Search Me” prayer:

Search me, O God, and know my heart. See if there is anything offensive with me in regards to how I worship You.

Search Me, O God, for how I worship You

In Exodus 20, we find the Ten Commandments God gave to Moses. In verse 8, God says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Today, most religions practice Sunday as their “Sabbath” because Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week. God expects us to keep this day holy. A day of worship and rest in Him. If we are to worship Him, then we need to know what it means to worship. The simplest way to describe worship is reflecting back to God what we think He’s worth. In 1 Chronicles 16, we find four ways in which we worship God.

Search Me, O God, for how I make His deeds know, sing His praise, seek His face, and remember His marvelous works

Make His deeds known among the people

The first way we worship God is by making His deeds known to others. 1 Chronicles 16:8 says, “Oh, give thinks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deed among the peoples!” Take a moment today and identify God’s deeds in your life. Choose at least three people to tell what God is doing in you and ask them what God is doing in their life. Spend time today thanking Him for what He is doing in your life.

Sing songs or praise, worship, and adoration

The second way we worship God is singing songs of praise, worship and adoration. 1 Chronicles 16:9 says, Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works!” If you think you can’t sing, then jump over to Psalm 100 and you’ll find it says to “Make a joyful noise.”

Seek His face continually

The third way we worship God is by seeking His face. 1 Chronicles 16: 10-11 says, “Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! We seek Him when we draw near to Him (James 4:8). We need to seek him continually. He should be our first thought in the morning and the last thought before we go to sleep. He should be in our thoughts all throughout the day, no matter where we are – and if He is, we won’t be going to the wrong places or doing the wrong things. If you feel as if you can’t find God, Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

Remember His marvelous works

The fourth way we worship God is by remembering His marvelous works. 1 Chronicles 16:12 says, “Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth.” What marvelous works has he done today? Did you see a glorious sunrise this morning or a beautiful rainbow after the rain? Did you notice the beauty in the leaves changing colors? Everything around you is there because it is a masterpiece – a work of art – formed by the Creator’s hand so take time to notice His marvelous works and all His wonders.
