Couple challenge: Faith & Marriage

172

Unforgiveness kills marriages. It opens the door to bitterness, anger, and resentment. The longer you hold on to unforgiveness, the more these other emotions fester until there is a big gaping wound that won’t heal. It is important to understand that forgiveness is a choice we make. It does not negate what was done or said. Instead, it is the choice to let go of bitterness, anger, and resentment. If there is anything you are holding on to that you have not forgiven your spouse for, what do you need so that you can get to the place of forgiveness? The deeper the hurt or wrong, the harder it can be to forgive, but the Bible tells us that with God all things are possible. The key is “with God.” Spend time praying about any area of unforgiveness and ask God to help you let go of bitterness, anger, and resentment and choose forgiveness.
